Terra Verde has met with potential buyers for Saskatchewan offsets.  By contracting with Terra Verde now, we can better assess how much volume we will have to offer buyers as soon as the Saskatchewan Program is announced.  The larger the volume we can pre-contract, the better the price we can secure for Saskatchewan producers, as evidenced with our larger contracts in Alberta and our achievement of the best net price to Alberta producers.  Although we are not 100% sure what the Saskatchewan Program will look like, we are extremely confident of what we think it will look like based on our experience in the Alberta marketplace.

SASKATCHEWAN MINISTER NANCY HEPPNER SPEAKS ON THE MANAGEMENT AND REDUCTION OF GREENHOUSE GASES ACT

Speaking at a Canadian Bar Association Section Meeting on Environmental and Resources Law on Thursday, November 5, 2009, the Honourable Nancy Heppner, Minister of the Environment spoke on “The Management and Reduction of Greenhouse Gases Act”.  The Minister outlined the general parameters of the Climate Change Plan put forward by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment, and indicated that the Regulations which will spell out the basic detail of the Government’s Climate Change Plan will not be available until the spring of 2010.  The Minister further indicated that the first compliance period under the new Act would be the 2010 year with payments into the Technology Fund by emitters in 2011.  Finally, the Minister made general comments about the negotiations between the Government of Canada and the Province of Saskatchewan to reach an equivalency agreement, emphasizing the need for the Federal Government and the Provinces to be on the “same page” with respect to the management and reduction of greenhouse gases and all payments by Saskatchewan emitters to remain in Saskatchewan.

We will bring you further information updates as we become aware of them.

Terra Verde is the only aggregator to have offices in both Alberta and Saskatchewan dealing exclusively with the aggregation of carbon offsets.

We are also accepting applications immediately from producers in Manitoba and British Columbia for the announced and anticipated federal carbon programs in 2010.

2011 SERIES IX CONTRACT CONCLUDED AND 2012 SERIES XI CONTRACT WELL UNDERWAY

We have recently finalized our 2011 Series IX Contract, which closed December 31, 2011.  As of January 1, 2012, Alberta Environment has eliminated the opportunity for Producers to claim carbon credits on a retroactive basis (2002 to 2010).

Alberta Environment has granted Producers an extension on 2011 carbon credits. Producers who were unable to submit an Application to Terra Verde prior to our December 31, 2011 deadline can still contract with Terra Verde for credits arising from their 2011 crop year. This is the last chance for Producers to contract carbon credits that were generated prior to 2012.  A copy of our 2012 Series XI Contract can be found in the "Application Forms" section of this website.  Terra Verde will be accepting Applications until July 1, 2012.

Completed Applications can be submitted to our Regina office by regular post, by fax at 1-306-949-1965 or by email at info@terraemissions.com
